Plastic Madonna

Shingle Street, Suffolk

late 20th century

Washed up at Shingle Street on the Suffolk coast, this 'Madonna' figure is believed to have originated from Lourdes in the late 20th century. Its contents are believed to be holy water. The use of plastic is significant: chosen for its ability to last for an eternity.
