These artefacts excavated from early Anthropocene climate refugee camps reveal the harshness of emigrants lives in transit. Daily survival struggles required ferocious scavenging for scarce resources in ever decreasing cycles of reuse, as evidenced by the remains of these repurposed containers.

Although the important business of archaeology was conducted by qualified staff, there were many less skilled activities, such as repurposing packaging materials like these, that could have been conducted by men such as Flinders Petrie.
