Vegetal matter
21st century
England
These three videos depict vegetal matter under distress from the resource-intensive industry of agriculture. The avocado stone and tomato stalk are representative of rejected by-products of the food industry, for which fruits and vegetables are grown en masse, only to face strict selection criteria to maintain uniformity, and to consequently ensure their purchase at the consumer level, benefitting the capitalist enterprises that sell these products. Little thought goes into the discarded matter that is produced never to be used, with no regard for its environmental impact, and the global concern of starvation.
