Anthropocene Stratotype Specimen: Fossilised Faunal remains
0001900 BCE +\- 1ma
Cromer Forest Bed Formation, Norfolk
A sample from the Anthropocene extinction levels, containing faunal midden deposits of the dominant species, a chicken sized avian (possibly Gallus gallus domesticus). The partial skeletal remains suggest the selection of certain body parts, in this case forelimbs, but elsewhere concentrations of hindlimbs predominate. PaleoZoo-osteological analysis reveals that the bones were heated and stripped of flesh prior to deposition.
